Jim Merrick

Marketing Director – Gaming, Graphics and Display

Jim Merrick is a seasoned senior executive with experience in entertainment software and high technology development from both a technical and marketing foundation. With Qualcomm, he oversees gaming and graphics related to all efforts where products are developed from the high-demand Snapdragon processor.

His scope has included international consumer marketing for global brands including Nintendo, Microsoft and Qualcomm. With focus on video games, he has guided companies on how to meld technology and marketing to inspire developers and consumers.

At Microsoft, Merrick expanded the Xbox global marketing research and led a strategic initiative to broaden the gaming audience across console, PC and mobile.

Merrick spent 10 notable years with Nintendo. As a member of the strategic management team with Nintendo of Europe, he directed all marketing, public relations, market research and online presence across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, working closely with Japan, subsidiaries and distributors in 30 countries. At Nintendo of America, hecreated the game quality review program for all third party games, and was the company’s technical spokesperson for numerous products, including the Wii and DS systems.

Merrick considers himself a “recovering gamer” although he is known to frequently fall off the wagon and play games on all platforms. When not gaming, he can be found sailing, skiing/snowboarding, biking, or learning to surf.
