James Oliverio
James Oliverio is internationally known as an educator, creative artist and digital media producer, and is a frequent keynote speaker and consultant to education programs. He is currently Professor of Music, Professor of Digital Arts & Sciences and Director of the Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida. Previously he served as the Composer in Residence at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and also as Founding Director of AudioLab in the Graphics, Visualization and Usability (GVU) Center in the Georgia Tech College of Computing.
Oliverio holds five Emmy Awards for his original soundtracks, the inaugural “Peoria Prize for Creativity” and the “Most Courageous and Creative” Award in the High Bandwidth Challenge from the 2001 Global SuperComputing Conference. His original scores have been premiered by ensembles including the Cleveland Orchestra and the symphonies of Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Columbus. He has produced for and collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, Jazz @ Lincoln Center, the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York City Ballet and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
