Alfred Hermida

Online news pioneer, social media scholar and journalism educator. Hermida is a 16-year veteran of the BBC and was a founding news editor of the BBC News website. Since 2006, he has been an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests include emerging digital forms of journalism and social media, with his work appearing in Journalism Practice and M/C Journal. He is a co-founder of the Canadian Music Wiki ( – - – http://www.canadianmusicwiki.com/ – - ) and the creator of – - – JournalismTV.ca – - ( – - – http://journalismtv.ca/ – - ). Hermida was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of – - Michgan in 2005 and is an IBM CAS Canada Research Faculty Fellow in 2010.
