Alexandra Samuel

Alex is an expert on social media and online participation. Her work at the Centre focuses on developing research projects, industry partnerships and community events that connect BC companies with ECUAD faculty and students. Alex’s current research projects address the personal and social impact of technology adoption, and the relationship between social media and creativity. This research draws on her applied work as the co-founder of Social Signal, one of the world’s first social media agencies. Through Social Signal, Alex has shaped social media projects and online communities like BC Hydro’s Power the Games, Vancity’s Change Everything and CompuMentor’s NetSquared. Alex blogs at Harvard Business Online and on her personal website. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University and a B.A. in Politics from Oberlin College.
