Alan Sawyer
Alan Sawyer is a recognized expert on convergent content and interactive media. He’s passionate about finding new ways to extend narratives across multiple platforms to develop deep engagement while pushing the boundaries of technology, social behaviour and even time and space.
He has consulted about interactive media and convergence with organizations including the Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Canadian Media Production Association [formerly the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA)], the CRTC, the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC), Interactive Ontario (IO), The National Film Board of Canada (NFB), the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), and Telefilm Canada as well as numerous broadcasters, TV producers and interactive companies.
Alan has been an application evaluator for the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund since May 2007 including development, production and low-budget production applications, and has also contributed to the creation of three successful Bell Fund applications in 2010.
Prior to re-establishing himself as an independent consultant in 2006, Alan was a senior management consultant with IBM’s Business Consulting Services in both the Media & Entertainment and Digital Media practices.
Alan is asked to speak at many conferences every year on a wide range of subjects ranging from transmedia storytelling and telecomm-broadcasting convergence to government policy and Canada’s National Digital Strategy.
Alan also appears frequently in print and on radio and TV to share his insights and expertise on the changing media and telecomm landscape.
