Introduction
You are invited to submit digital art and design to iDEAs 07: Beyond Boundaries. iDEAs is an exhibition of artistic and innovative digital installations, creative mobile media, interactive pieces, web sites, games, digital images, film and video and much more. The iDEAs exhibition coincides with the fifth annual International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa) conference, Beyond Boundaries, to be held in Philadelphia, PA.

iDEAs 07: Beyond Boundaries addresses the notion that the nature of digital arts is to embrace the new technologies of the time while perfecting those of the past.  As such, it tends to sit outside the fringe of discipline, thus deifying boundaries within its own set of standards. This art form is complex and multifaceted, however, it embraces two distinct aspects that are currently, and will continue to be, characterized by flux and defined by the rate of change of technology. The first exists on the fringe of the art world, embracing, exploring, incorporating, and translating the newest digital media for the given time.  The second is the incorporation of yesterday’s edge into traditional art forms or into mature and unique works that often do not fit within traditional aesthetics.

Regardless of whether the art incorporates older or newer digital technologies or applications, it sits outside of tradition. Digital media art is a lightning rod for new media and acts as a disseminator of language and implications connected with it. It also embraces the digital edge of yesterday and continues to evaluate and describe those aesthetics as they are redefined in light of a shifting technological landscape.  Although traditional boundaries do not apply, grounding in artistic practice does, albeit in flux.

iDEAs 07 seeks art that not only goes beyond the boundaries of traditional art forms, but does not even consider them and seeks to find its own foundation.  Works may address this directly or indirectly simply by being.  Art that incorporates old and new technology as well as traditional media mixed with technology are welcome.
