iDMAa Conference Navigation – Scott Shamp (University of Georgia) and Karla Berry, (University of South Carolina) Conference Co-Chairs
1:15pm “Interfacing the Future” with Jon Ruppel
This award winning interface designer, a graduate of UCLA’s Department of Design/Media Arts, whose work with Acura Motors, Microsoft, Sony and Disney spanned the range from advertising to application development, and whose work for Scion led to recognition by Communication Arts: Interactive Annual as only the “Best of Interactive 2006,” has left his leadership role in Schematic’s Advanced Interaction Group to start a new firm, thus he is truly creating the future as he explores interface design issues with us.
2:00pm The Innovation Showcase – with Kurt Kratchman and Friends
  • Kurt Kratchman, successful international entrepreneur, former Chief Strategy Officer of Schematic, and executive advisor to Fortune 500 leaders, has assembled a diverse group of innovators to explore our future which includes:
  • Jody Little, executive with Sierra Nevada Corporation, explores “the Future of Intelligent Systems.”
  • Sean Bunner, Operating V.P., Advanced Services with HSN, explores “The Future of Interactive Marketing,” using his experiences in developing interactive media applications.

3:40pm Academic Papers – 4 simultaneous breakout sessions with interaction (plus an “optional” special topics session) Topics range from Design, Gaming, Pedagogy, Applications in Contexts, online Media Education, Digital Media Agencies, Student Career Opportunities, Digital Art Issues, etc.

5:30pm IDEA’s Opening – Liquids and Hors d’oeuvres at the River Center (downstairs)
(7:00 pm Student Showcase Awards Announced)
7:30pm The Savannah Trolley Adventure and Optional Networking Dinners (with S.C.A.D. Faculty Hosts and Architectural Historians, Professors Robin Williams and Jeff Eley, et al.) Trolleys will drop you at the opposite end of River Street and Bryan Street (from the hotel and conference site. Your walk back will take you past numerous restaurants some of which are reserved for you and an iDMAa host for dinner with conversations led by IDMAA hosts.
